Established in year 2000, Sono Shipping LLC (Sono) was appointed exclusive and sole general agents for and on behalf of Meridian Bulk Carriers, Ltd (Meridian).

At the time the company resided in Stamford, Connecticut. In 2002, Sono Shipping LLC moved their office from Stamford, Connecticut to Austin, Texas.
